We have had so many new children start in our class this year that I thought it was time for an update:

Science Experiment Recounts

Read about what we have been getting up to in the classroom -

On Wednesday room 6 went outside and inside to do science experiments. First we did a popping rocket. It went up to the sky. Then Miss Y got a balloon and rubbed it on her head and she rolled a can. It was magic. Next we did foamy fountain it was like a volcano. Kirsten

Last Wednesday room six was doing some science experiments inside and outside. The first experiment was the popping rockets. It fizzed and it blasted off. The next experiment was the balloon the can it rolled toward the balloon. The final experiment was the elephant’s toothpaste. It was fizzing. Cheyenne

On Wednesday our class were learning about science experiments.
First we did the popping rockets. They blasted off high. Then we did the balloon one and Miss Y rubbed her hair. Then she the can followed the balloon. Next she pulled the paper up with the balloon and the sugar and it stuck to the balloon. After we did the foamy fountain. It exploded everywhere. Brianna

We are up up and away in our Science discussions and experiments. Lots of action went on on Wednesday. Making Yoghurt - Step by Step

This term the children are being introduced to procedural writing. This is writing step by step instructions of how to do something. Making yoghurt was a good introduction to this as we had to follow the instructions on the packet to make it. It also ties in with our science theme by getting the children thinking about 'change' and how in this example it turned from powder and water to a different consistency. How does this happen? Unfortunatley I have been sick all week... boo hoo... and have not been able to follow up on this questions. But, here is the step by step slideshow.

Anzac Assembly

On Tuesday we had a special Anzac Assembly in our school hall. The class made a wreath. Some children even made their own wreath at home.

Yesterday the whole school, the soldiers and the trumpet player went to the hall at our school for an Anzac assembly to remember the people at war. First we sang the National Anthem. Then the councillors read and acted out a poem. Next we watched a slide show of the Christchurch earthquake heroes. After that one of the soldiers spoke. Later me and Billie took the wreath up. At last we sang songs. Finally the trumpet player played The Last Post on the trumpet. Jackson.

Yesterday morning the whole school went to the Anzac assembly at the school hall to remember the people who died and the people who came back home from the war. First we sang the National Anthem. Next the councillors read and poem and actted it too. Then we watched a Christchurch movie. After the soldier spoke about a soldier who did rugby and died in war. Then presented a book to Mat. Holiday Recounts

Look what Room 6 children have been doing in the holidays-

In the Easter holidays I went to Holly and Alices in New Plymouth and me and Holly went swimming and I went in the deep end. There was big waves and after we had a shower. We had an ice-cream and then we went home and played Go Fish. Cheyenne

In the Easter holidays we went up north. First me and Katie walked six k's. We walked to Orewa beach. We walked to Orewa beach because we wanted more energy to walk back home again. Then we ate our Easter eggs. Finally me and Katie went to our house with Steven. After I went to bed with my brother and sister and my mum and dad came back from Malaysia in the planed. Brianna

Yesterday I went to Sandspit Road School and rode my bike and I went up the hill and my dad came with me. First I went on the playground. Next I went on the other one. Then I went on the big monkey bars. Later I did some netball shooting. Then I went back to the playground. Finally I went home. Amelia

On the Friday before the last Friday we went to the Easter Show. I wnet on heaps of things. First waited for Kay and Jackson to get of their ride. Next we went on this freaky ride. Then another freaky ride. It went side ways. After I went on the ghost train. Then later I went on the pirate ship. At last we got off. Then we went back home. Arama

10 dyas ago I went to the pools with my mum and brother. First I went in the middle pool and I tried to do a hand stand and then I wen into the little pool. Jack
